"Life In - Life Out!"

Have you ever been caught out by your tongue? In James 3 we see the following verses: "Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity… But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God."
The words we speak are very powerful. Consider the fact that we have been created in God’s image and His likeness (Gen 1:27). If we are like God, then we need to behave like God. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the words we speak can either bring life or death. How do we know that? Firstly, God’s doesn’t lie. Secondly, if we are made in the likeness of God and he spoke and the worlds were created. He gave life through His words. If He did, then we do… Now that’s a powerful thought.
The words we speak can encourage people, build people up, stir them to great things, or they can tear people down, and belittle them, not to mention damage and destroy people’s reputations, or self image. All this because of simple words.
If we go back to James 3, we see that he says, “No man can tame the tongue”. Do you know why that is? Because it’s your tongue. You are in control of it, not someone else, which means we can't blame others either for the words we speak. We can't say it's their fault. We are in control of the words we speak.
Our words will affect our destiny, they impact lives and they change lives. If we want to ensure that we are continually reflecting God in all we do, then we need to start filling our mind with His Word, because it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. If you have been caught out by your tongue, then you need to look at what you are allowing to go in to your mind. We know the old saying, “Garbage in, garbage out”. The same can be said for our words - "Life in, Life Out!"
Now that’s a great thing to be feeding on this week - His Word!

Father, I ask your forgiveness for the words that I've spoken that haven't reflected you well. I want my words to point people to You. I declare that today I will be on who chooses to speak life. In Jesus name, Amen
